India Transformed!

Why India?

India's success matters to the entire world, not just Indians.

India’s rapid growth: Ever since its independence 75 years ago, India has made significant advances in space technology, telecommunications, agriculture, energy production, and biotechnology, to name a few. India has over 750 million internet users, demonstrating the country's rapid advancement in the digital age.

India’s competent workforce has always been considered an important growth factor, given the young average age, good English skills and high levels of education. The skilled workforce population of 500 million is a valuable asset to the country. By 2027, India's working-age population is expected to account for 18.6% of the global labor force. With one-sixth of the world's population, India's massive pool of human resources is frequently mentioned on global platforms. It is widely acknowledged that harnessing the potential of this resource will result in significant gains for both India and the world at large. Between 2020 and 2050, India is expected to add 183 million people to its working-age population.

India is rising in the international community: In recent years, India has risen to prominence in the global economy. Over 235 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine were supplied by India to 98 countries. Going beyond national interests demonstrates an ethos of solidarity with the world. There is no denying that the international community is looking toward India more expectantly today than it ever has.

The challenge: Despite India's fast-growing economy, abject poverty remains a constant problem, affecting nearly two-thirds of the population. This equates to 364 million people living on less than $3.10 per day, the World Bank's median poverty line. Regardless of economic growth, India's jobs have been unable to keep up with the growing population. The top 10% of the Indian population holds 77% of the total national wealth. 73% of the wealth generated in 2017 went to the richest 1%, while 670 million Indians who comprise the poorest half of the population saw only a 1% increase in their wealth. India has the largest number of people living in poverty.

The need: With a population of 1.4 billion people to serve, India faces major challenges such as poverty, inequitable resource distribution, education, and healthcare-related inadequacies, among others. More than half of India's population is below the age of 25. The country will have to ensure education and employment for its youth. India ranked 101st out of 116 countries in the 2021 Global Hunger Index. Around 25% of children in India suffer from malnutrition, and over 190 million go to bed each night without a meal.

The role of India Transformed!: We are called to assist India in overcoming these challenges because we believe these efforts will enable Indians to realize their God-given potential.

I can do all things through him who strengthens me.
