Venkatesh (DOB:: 4/8/17) lives with his parents and three siblings in a makeshift tent made from straw, bamboo sticks and plastic sheets. During the rainy season, their tent often gets drenched and requires constant repairs. They must walk one to two miles to fetch clean drinking water and lack basic amenities such as electricity, toilets and proper drainage. The streets around them are poorly lit, leaving them in complete darkness during the evenings. Venkatesh’s father works as a vendor selling recycled plastic items, while his mother is a homemaker. Despite their challenging circumstances, Venkatesh is an active and lively child who enjoys playing with his sisters and chatting with his friends. He is strong-minded and bold, with a passion for participating in sports. He likes going to school and studies well. Venkatesh also loves singing and dreams of becoming a police officer one day.
