Kokilan (PKL)

Kokilan, who is five years old, recently began school. He has an older brother, and his family of four lives in a mud-plastered cottage with a palm leaf roof. Kokilan's father is a farm laborer who does not always have a job. He often wastes away whatever little money he has on himself by drinking alcohol. While working under the government's 100-day labor program, the mother looks after the children. Unfortunately, her earnings are not enough to fulfil all of the household's needs. Kokilan and his brother Gokul barely have enough food and clothing to get by. These children have suffered as a result of their family's acute poverty. Kokilan has been chosen for sponsorship, which will help him with his schooling and welfare. His life and destiny will change when a sponsor steps in to care for and nurture him. Kokilan looks forward to establishing a relationship with a sponsor. This relationship will no doubt inspire him to work hard in order to improve in life, receive a good education, and one day realize his dream of becoming a teacher.
