Akhila (4/25/19)

Akhila (DOB: 4/25/19) is an energetic and cheerful girl who loves to chat with others. She is a talented singer, an excellent athlete and a quick learner who truly enjoys going to school. When she grows up, Akhila desires to be a doctor. Akhila is the youngest of three. The family of five live in a small makeshift tent made of metal sheets, which offers little protection from harsh weather. The family struggles with poor access to clean water, sanitation and electricity. The nearest town where they can buy groceries is difficult to reach due to the lack of transportation. With only a fifth grade education, Akhila’s parents have faced the challenges of poverty their entire lives. Despite these hardships, they are determined not to compromise their children’s education.
